Sambor Prei Kuk Tour

“Sambor Prei Kuk Tour” Archaeologically, the site is extremely important, containing some of Cambodia’s oldest surviving buildings. But you don’t have to be an archaeology buff to appreciate the ethereal beauty of this tree-wrapped site. The most important temples in the area are found in Prasat Sambor, Prasat Tao, and Prasat Yeay Peau, which all have remarkably clear carvings on their temple walls and plenty of ethereal ambience provided by twisting tree trunks and coiling vines. You can access Sambor Prey Kuk from Kompong Thom.

Visit the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple complex on a private full-day tour from Siem Reap. The main temples of this Pre-Angkorian archaeological site was built in the 7th century and are older than those of Angkor Wat. As you explore the site with a private guide, take note of the temples covered in tree roots, making them popular photo subjects.

What To Expect

Private Sambor Prei Kuk Tour

Your private tour begins with pickup in Siem Reap for the drive to Sambor Prei Kuk in Cambodia’s Kampong Thom province. Enjoy views along the way, and stop at a local market and an old bridge.

The archaeological ruins of the complex, built by King Citrasena Mahendravarman of Funan, encompass 52 temples, some of which have collapsed and been covered by dirt. Others are in fairly good condition, while nature devoured some, causing them to be overgrown by trees, a fascinating sight.

You have about three hours to explore the temple ruins of Sambor Prey Kuk with your guide, who provides information about each site. Make sure to dress conservatively appropriate for visiting the temple.

Koh Ker-Preah Vihea Trip

Koh Ker-Preah Vihea Trip

The temples of Angkor Wat may gain all the glory, but Prasat Preah Vihear wins the prize for the most dramatic location. Sitting atop the Dangrek Mountains, on an escarpment with dizzying views across the Cambodian floodplains, Prasat Preah Vihear is a monumental temple complex of intricately carved pavilions linked by long causeways, originally built to honor the god Shiva.

The amazing full-day private tour discovering the charming beauty of Cambodia gives you a great opportunity to pay a visit to many famous tourist attractions, including the Koh Ker-Preah Vihea Trip. You will definitely have unforgettable experiences while admiring these magnificent landscapes.

Amazing temple light, highly Please do not skip Preah Vihear Temple if you are visiting Siem Reap. The panorama view of Cambodia and Thailand border up there is just beautiful. The architecture of this temple is different from all the sites in Siem Reap. The space is wider and the layout is much easier to access.

What to Expect

Visit the beautiful temple of Preah Vihear, a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site near the Thai border in Cambodia. You will depart in the morning from Siem Reap and drive to Preah Vihear by private air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver. But we will also see Ta Mouk Man Home (Khmer Rouge) at the Angloung Veng Village. After that, we will continue to Preah Vihear temple.

When we arrive at Preah Vihear, we need to change into a 4 wheel drive to drive up to the temple. This takes around 15 minutes. Preah Vihear was built during Angkorian times and is a Hindu temple. From the temple, you have a spectacular view of the surroundings.

The temple of Preah Vihear was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. For a long time, there has been a dispute about whether the temple belongs to Thailand or Cambodia, but in 1962 the international court ruled that it was part of Cambodia. In 2008, the dispute revived, but the general agreement is still that Preah Vihear belongs to Cambodia.

After visiting the very interesting site of Preah Vihear, we drive to Koh Ker, the pyramid temple. It is a temple, unlike any other temple you will see in Cambodia. Koh Ker used to be the capital of the Khmer empire and is an important historic site. You will visit the pyramid temple as well as a few smaller temples in the area.

During the tour, you are treated to a nice local lunch in a local restaurant.

Cycling tour in Siem Reap

Under the Cardamom Mountains or along the Mekong River, the lives of Cambodian villagers move forward remarkably. And when you look at a sunrise at Angkor Wat or the ruins of Taprohm, the modern world feels distant. While progress was for years dampened by a tragic history, Cambodia is now a country on the move. With riverside boulevards and art galleries popping up in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap’s growing reputation for hip cafes and dining, Cambodia tours aren’t all about the temple-gazing (although we have to admit, the gazing is pretty darn good).

Private transport

Cars with drivers can be hired for a single or multiple days. While all drivers are familiar with the area and pleased to suggest good roads, most speak little English and are not actual tourist guides. Licensed tour guides, mostly in English, charge 35 USD to 50 USD per day, and for English, a speaking driver with a car charger is 30 USD to 40 USD a day in the inner Angkor area.

Drivers will likely ask for 5 to 30 USD extra for trips to further temples such as those of the Big Circuit, Banteay Srey, and more for remote sites like Beng Mealea and Kulen Mountain.

The taxis (10 USD fixed cost) from the airport in Siem Reap proper may provide a full day of touring for 25–30 USD. If you need to take a taxi around the grand circle tour, it will cost 40 USD, and to Banteay Stei Temple, it is 50 USD.

Beware of airport taxi drivers talking you into a tour, as they tend to charge you a much higher price. Do not assume that the official counter at the airport makes them better as the quality of the drivers varies a lot. Only book a driver and a car through your hotel or tour services to avoid scams.
